Catching up

I took a couple days of "doggy therapy" to get over the flu I had.  They are VERY helpful you know.... just look!

Maggie is cuddling with me on the love seat. YES, she's wearing a TShirt. She's finally figured out she had surgery and she's itchy. So, there you have it- the latest in post surgery fashion, hehe!

Nap time!! Yeah for Labrador cuddles.

Doesn't she look great in her pretty-in-pink shirt??

Sophie and Guinness spent the day napping on the other couch. They seem to like each other.

Sophie... I think she's watching TV here.

Speaking of Mr. Gorgeous Guinness himself, he's moving out tomorrow!! He's found himself a stellar family and I couldn't be more pleased for him!

Murphy likes to cuddle UNDER my blankie, on the floor.   Just her little legs showing, hehe.

Spikey, in his crate. It's his "I want to be close, but it's too hot in here to cuddle, so I'll stick myself in my crate so at least I'm still in the same room" plan. He is quirky, that boy.

He did come out to watch the street from his favourite chair at least.

In other news, I got the Christmas tree up.  Crossing fingers it won't get knocked down this year!

Oh, and I haven't done this, this year yet, but it makes me feel better about the LONG nights and SHORT days of winter in Canada. I keep thinking, at least the weather has been mild. Anyway, Dec. 1st, this is what it looked like as I was leaving... just mostly dark. The shortest day of the year also happens to be my last day before holidays so I will get a photo to compare. Hopefully I'll have figured out the settings on this camera by then to actually get a decent photo. :)

A little sunshine

I need a little sunshine in my life at the moment- so much unhappiness lately, so I am ready to show off what I enjoy about life rather than dwelling on all that other stuff. :)  I'm fortunate I have my two favourite flowers, blooming up a storm!! First of all, my baskets of pansies on the front step. Love them!

This is the first year I've had these tulips really bloom. Love them too!

Sorry, they are a litte fuzzy, but they give you the idea at least of my front garden.

And, the view from my door step as I was leaving for work, May 18th. Sun comes up at about 5AM now.

And finally, my dogs love to hang with each other in the sun.

Spike loves being on the deck.

Murph, looking around.

Oh there you are Murphy!

Sophie, drying off in the sun. She loves to have a play in our paddling pool then dry in the sun.

My girls watching the neighbours cut their lawn.

And, after sunbathing comes napping on my bed. Spike and Murphy cuddled up together.

I am not so sure Murph likes being used a pillow but she stayed there for a long time!

I love that my dogs all get along so well and can hang out together with no problems. Nothing like a furry face to help a person feel better!

Beautiful Mornings

I am up early because even if it is a weekend, I can't change that I am a morning person. I love the quiet, slow, steady pace of a morning, coffee in hand as I prepare to face the day.

I glanced out the window this morning and had to grab the camera.

I saw the most beautiful, deep red sunrise. I couldn't help but try to photograph it, but the pictures do not do justice to it.

And, over here is a picture of my muddy road. Spring seems to finally be here, and even though it is very slow to warm up, it is still warm enough to go out in a sweater only. It's beautiful and the snow is starting to go. I can't help myself, but I am starting to really plan out my garden for this summer. I am going to plant lots of strawberries where Sophie can't get them and a peony bush for sure. It just makes me happy to think about summer and planting my garden and maybe feeling like I have a little time for myself to putter in it.

And, finally, my best boy because Spike hasn't made many appearances on the blog lately. He's not so far away from his 6th birthday and I can't help but notice how grey my boy is getting. Wish they could stay young forever, but there is something quite sweet about a steady, reliable middle aged dog who has settled into who they are with a confidence that didn't exist in puppyhood. Love that boy so much. :)

The view this morning

It was a wild morning around this house, for some reason.  Both Murphy and Ringo (yes, he's STILL here, LOL!) were CRAZY and while my back was turned my living room went from clean to this:

Toy guts everywhere. Sigh. I clean my house daily, actually multiple times daily with the toy killers around!

Murphy refuses to admit her guilt, but I know better!!

But, in other news, this was the view as I was leaving this morning. Sun was up, but yes, that's SNOW.  Sunrise today was 7:15AM, and I've been driving into a blinding light everyday this week (save cloudy today), bright enough that even sunglasses didn't completely help the glare!  YEAH!!!

And, even better, there's a hint of my lawn peaking out!  Spring IS coming, even if it's a bit cold and snowy today!!

It's looking a little brighter!

The days are getting longer, that is very obvious. That has to mean winter is almost over, right?  In any case, I took a photo a month ago on the way out the door and posted it, so I figured I better this month again to compare them!  So, here you go....

It's a balmy -43 with the windchill this morning, -31 celsius before the wind. Yuck. It might be getting brighter out, but it's still COLD!

Spring must be coming right?!?

Spring must be coming, the days are getting longer!! I leave the house for work at 7:50 most mornings, and it's been very dark until this week. I realized suddenly this morning that this was the scene...

That is the view from my front doorstep and YES that's a hint of the sunrise to come!!  That MUST mean Spring is coming right??  I sure hope so because it's been cold (not bitter yet, just cold) at consistently in the  -20s the last week, with windchills down into the -30's.  Tomorrow morning, they are saying the windchill might dip to -41!!  (That's -41.8 in F, for my American readers!)  BRRR!!  The only consolation I have is that beautiful hint of blue!!
